Mark Woollen & Associates (MWA) has been creating award-winning trailers and marketing campaigns for more than two decades. What started as a one-man operation has grown into a staff of over forty highly skilled producers, writers, editors and graphic designers, who bring their unique vision to every marketing challenge, from critically acclaimed indies to the biggest blockbusters of the year.


MWA has become the exclusive agency of choice for many award-winning filmmakers, crafting campaigns for some of the most acclaimed Oscar contenders in recent history. Many of our trailers are recognized by media outlets as being the greatest of all-time, regularly making best of and favorites lists around the world.


MWA has been honored with dozens of Golden Trailer and Clios and has garnered attention from the New York Times, Vanity Fair, NPR and Wired Magazine.


We are incredibly passionate about movie trailers and marketing, and are hoping to find equally enthusiastic editors for our Editorial Apprenticeship Program. This program welcomes editors of any experience level who are familiar with either Avid or Premiere, to apply.

Show us your work. We’ll pick the best candidates with the most promising cuts and teach you the skills to hone your craft and put you in the fast lane to becoming a professional trailer editor on the MWA team.


You must provide samples of your editorial work (i.e links to your videos/reel) to be considered. Samples should be no longer than 7 minutes ideally trailers / music videos / commercials / mashups.


In this Apprenticeship you will:

  • Shadow professional editors working on top-tier campaigns.

  • Learn how to properly "break down" streaming shows and movies for an editorial campaign.

  • Learn how to set up and organize your timeline like a professional within Avid.

  • Create Trailers and TV promos based on direction from our team of top creative directors and producers.

  • Learn how to rhythmically cut with music and elevate a cut with sound design.

  • Understand how to revise trailers and TV spots based on notes and creative feedback.


Qualifications:

  • Must be willing to work on-site in our studio in Santa Monica, California.

  • Must be proficient in Avid or Adobe Premiere. Knowledge of Adobe After Effects a plus but not required.

  • Must have a reel or samples of work that demonstrate creative, rhythmic editorial with strong music, and sound design.

  • Able to prioritize tasks and work quickly.

  • This is an ego-free environment. A positive, collaborative attitude is a must.

  • Must be able to handle changing deadlines and fast timelines, be adaptable, and able to shift perspective when projects change direction.

  • Interest in the trailer industry. We’re looking for candidates with a strong passion and awareness of the latest trends in Film and TV marketing.

  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and have high standards of quality.


Experience:

Editing: 1 year (Preferred)


This position is ideal for PAs or AEs looking to make the jump into creative editorial or individuals who love to edit fan trailers or music videos for fun and want to do it professionally!
